Chris Thorn is a criminal justice professional, writer, and podcast host with more than two decades of experience across law enforcement, corrections, military service, loss prevention, and federal employment. His career has placed him in investigative, supervisory, and high-risk operational roles—providing firsthand insight into how the justice system functions beyond theory, emotion, or headlines.
Chris served over ten years in corrections with both the Nevada Department of Corrections and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, advancing through the ranks from Correctional Officer to Sergeant and Lieutenant. While with the Nevada Department of Corrections, he was a certified trainer and Rangemaster, responsible for firearms instruction, officer qualification standards, and officer readiness.
During his tenure with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Chris served as the Safe Prisons / PREA Investigator, handling complex and highly sensitive investigations involving sexual abuse allegations, staff misconduct, coercion, and institutional compliance with federal PREA standards.
In addition to his corrections career, Chris served as a Reserve Sheriff’s Deputy, expanding his experience into patrol-level operations and field law enforcement decision-making.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a 3.62 GPA, along with advanced research coursework in Cognitive and Social Psychology. He is also the creator and host of the podcast *What You Think Doesn’t Matter*.
Chris lives in Texas and continues to write, produce, and speak on criminal justice, constitutional rights, and institutional accountability.
In addition to his work in media and justice advocacy, Chris is a passionate supporter of autism awareness.
